Hello boys and girls!
How about we start by updating our calendar and saying our morning prayers.
Today is World Book Day! Do you have an outfit from a story book that you can put on? Go on, lets dress up! I wonder who you will be?
Literacy – Our first job today is to make a den. I know the last time we did this, lots of you sent me messages saying how much you loved it, so let’s do it again. Once you’ve made your reading den, I’d like you to go and get all of your favourite books. Next get a couple of snack and then you’re set. Get comfy and spend some time reading. I’m sure you’ll have a lovely time. Which is your favourite story? What is it about? What other stories do you like?
Here’s a story called Oi Frog. Get comfortable and listen very carefully. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItLi6xx4YEY. Which was your favourite part? Why? What rhyming words did you hear? Can you remember what rhymes with cat and what rhymes with sofas?
Nursery Rhyme – Do you know the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty? Let’s listen to it, join in if you already know the words. https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/school-radio/nursery-rhymes-humpty-dumpty-sat-on-the-wall/zhn7kmn. This nursery rhyme also has some rhyming words. It uses wall, can you think of words that rhyme with wall? It also uses the word men, what rhymes with that? Can you think of any other rhyming words?
World Book Day – To celebrate world book day in school and at home, we are going to look at After the Fall by Dan Santat. Use the link below to listen to the story. If you would prefer to read it, pause the video to read the text on screen.
Click on the link below to find some activities linked to the book. Choose some of the activities and send us some pictures of your world book day adventures. Please share your adventures with us by email.
Why don’t you make a paper aeroplane and go outside and see if you can make it fly?
Have a wonderful day, enjoy those books and stay safe.
