Happy Thursday Year 1,

This week is going so quickly. This will be your last day of home learning for this half term. You have worked so hard at home, I am so proud of all of you! I would also like to say a huge thank you to all of the parents for your support and hard work.

Please don’t forget to email your work to by 8pm.

Don’t forget to login to Google classroom at 10am. Bring your teddies for our class book! Please remember do not leave the Google Meet until instructed to, keep the camera on at all times and sit sensibly.

Make sure you get lots of rest over the holidays!

In this lesson you will be learning about the contents page. You might have seen a contents page in the book we read on Tuesday, Perfect Pets.

For your task today I have given you a contents page. I would like to you to use the contents page by finding the page numbers. Underneath the contents is ‘Where will I find information about’, you must find the page number where you will find the information and write which page it is on. Good luck!

For Maths today you will be counting in multiples of 2! We have practiced counting in 2’s before. Remember the trick if you are struggling to skip count. Whispering 1, saying 2, whispering 3, saying 4, whispering 5, saying 6.

Count in multiples of 2

You will be learning three tricky words today – you, your and school.

Please could you practice these tricky words using rainbow colours!

This is a colouring activity to help you practice these words and previous tricky words Tricky Words

There is a powerpoint attached with some key facts and dates which should help you to remember what we have learned over the last few weeks. Your task for today is to cut and stick pictures of different dates of airplanes and trains onto a timeline. Below each picture is an information sentence telling you about each picture and a date. Please could you match the dates on the timeline in chronological order.

Your task: Transport Timeline

I hope you are all getting lots of exercise by playing in the snow and sledging!

Here is your PE lesson today: PE 11.02.21

Half Term Task – Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. We go to church and a Cross is made on our foreheads with ashes to show that we want to grow more like Jesus. It may not be possible for everyone to go to church this year. Lent is the Church’s season of preparation for the celebration of Easter. It lasts for six weeks or 40 days.

The day before Ash Wednesday is called Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day. ‘Shrove’ means being forgiven for the times we get things wrong. Traditionally pancakes were made to clear out all the rich ingredients from the cupboard before the start of strict fasting in Lent. Today we still keep Shrove Tuesday but during Lent we don’t have as strict a fast as people used to have.

Please look at this PDF together and talk about the journey of Lent.  Lent PDF

Your task for Wednesday 17 February – Ash Wednesday

During the forty days of Lent, we are encouraged to try to become more like Jesus by caring, sharing and helping. This helps us to think about other people. Lent is also a special time when we think about Jesus, how he grew in love and we try to grow in love, goodness, kindness and helpfulness like him.

How could you follow Jesus’ example by caring, sharing and helping?

Make a Lenten promise card showing how you are going to follow in Jesus’ footsteps during Lent. ‘I want to grow in love like Jesus by…’ Please see template attached Lenten Promise

There are some ideas for each day on the Mission Together Lenten calendar that I have included as a separate PDF.

If you can, look at the other Mission Together resources:
