Happy happy Friday Year 2!

Well that was another busy week! Thank you for all your hard work and effort this week. I can see you have all been trying very hard.

Today we will be going Reading Comprehension, Maths, Art and Handwriting. I will be giving you feedback on your Reading Comprehension task today.

Spellings and Mental Maths

I will be giving spellings and mental maths each week for you to learn. You need to make sure you learn them by next Friday so that an adult in your house can test you.

Yesterday in our story we heard about the secret workers in Mr Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. If you need  to hear this section of the story again, then here is the video below,

Today I’d like you to use your imagination and I’d like you to predict who these secret workers could be and what they might look like.

It’s Mrs Gourley for maths today! We are going to continue with the work that was introduced yesterday linked to array patterns. It’s going to be another practical session so you will need to gather some objects and resources that you can organise into arrays. Like Wednesday, you could use lego, dry pasta, counters, sweets etc.

Once you’ve watched the video I’d like you to see how many arrays can you create for the following numbers …

8, 12, 14, 18, 20, 24, 30 if you manage all of these try … 36

In art today we are going to think about some of the very warm, yellow, orange and golden colours that we saw in the magnificent paintings of The Great Fire of London last week. You will need some yellow and red paint to complete today’s art lesson. Watch the video below where I will show you how we will try to create and mix some of these warm colours.

In handwriting today we will look at another letter. We’ll look at the letter ‘l’.

We will then explore writing a few words with the letters we have covered so far this week – c, a, d, g and l.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Mrs Gourley :-)
