Good morning Year 2!
I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend, This is our last week of home learning before we all return to school next Monday!
Today on our timetable we have English, Maths, RE and Handwriting. I will feedback on your RE work today.
We will have our class call at 2.45pm. I hope that you can all join us. We’ll listen to the next chapter of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory today.
Please keep reading. Try to read a little bit every day. Remember you can login into Oxford Owl using the username and passwords y2smst. Once you’ve logged in, I would recommend that you click on the level at the right hand side. Move it down to the Book Band level Purple. Then today I’d recommend that you read the book ‘Cool Buildings’.
Please don’t worry if you’re reading something else at home – keep reading that!
In English today we are going to look at a spelling some words that contain a ‘soft c’. This is when the ‘c’ makes the ‘s’ sound. For example in the word nice, the c makes a sound.
Look through the PowerPoint presentation first and watch the short video clip within the presentation. Then you will sort the words into to groups ‘soft c’ and ‘hard c’. You can either write the words in the correct groups or you can cut and stick some of the pictures.
If you’d like an extra challenge, why not try the Soft c crossword!
In maths this week we will be continuing with data handling. We will continue to work on pictograms but today we are looking at pictograms where the image represents 2. Watch the video first.
For your task you can complete a pictogram of your choice. You may want to take a big handful of Lego and sort them into coloured pieces, or you may want to get a bag of sweets and sort them into different flavours. You could so another traffic count or go on another walk and record some of the things you spotted. The choice is yours! I’ll look forward to seeing what you’ve chosen.
RE this week is looking at the different parts of a Mass and thinking about what happens in each part. We are going to split this across a couple of lessons beacuse there is quite a lot involved.
In today’s lesson we will think about the first two parts – We Gather and We Listen.
Work through the PowerPoint presentation and listen carefully to what happens in each part of the Mass. Then write a few sentences about each on the sheets. You can use the pictures and titles for each part.
Today in handwriting we will look at writing a new letter – the letter ‘s’.
We will end the day with the next chapter of our story ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’.
I hope that you all have a wonderful day.
Mrs Gourley 🙂
