Good morning Year 2,

I hope that everyone has been able to enjoy the weekend, despite not being able to go out! This is the last day though so we’ll make sure we have lots of fun in school tomorrow!

On our timetable today we have; Google Classroom, English, maths and an Art / Computing / Erasmus task. Today I will feedback on your afternoon Erasmus task.

English

In English today I’l like you to write a letter. You will write a letter to your new Year 3 teacher Miss Robinson. In this letter you need to tell Miss Robinson some things about yourself. You may want to tell her …

– what you enjoy doing (hobbies, sports, talents)

– what lessons you enjoy in school

– what you’re feeling anxious about in Year 3

Miss Robinson will be coming into school towards the end of this week and next week to see you all so I’m sure she’d love to read your letters.

Maths

In maths today we will be continuing with our work on 3D shapes. Today we will be counting the number of vertices on 3D shapes. You need to watch the short video below and then complete the worksheets.

Art / Computing / Erasmus Task

As you all know we are part of an Erasmus project with schools in Spain, Italy and Romania. We are currently thinking about family life in each of these countries. Today I’d like you to think about your family life. You need to think about things you do together as a family. For example; eating a meal together, go for a walk, play a board game. do a jigsaw puzzle, have a day trip out (to the park, beach, woods etc).

Can you make a poster to show at least 4 things that you and your family do together? You can either do this on the computer possibly using photos or you can draw your own pictures. Please can you write a sentence under or next to each image explaining what you and your family are doing. If you know how or you have a grown up and older sibling who can help you, you could have a go at making a short PowerPoint presentation showing your family life.

There is no right or wrong with this task. I want to be creative to tell all the children in Spain, Italy and Romania about family life in England. On Wednesday evening I have a Zoom meeting with all of the teachers in these countries and I will share your work with them.

I have completed a couple of examples below for you to look at. One of them is a Publisher document and then other one is a short PowerPoint Presentation.

I have created a template for you to use if you aren’t using photos or the computer and choosing to draw instead.

Tuesday 6th July – Day of Many Colours

On Tuesday 6th July all children throughout the school are invited to come into school in non-uniform.
On this day we are asking children to come into school wearing lots of bright colours. (No Football kits please.)
The Day of Many Colours is a day for children to celebrate their belonging to God’s Universal Family. Based on the five colours of the Mission Rosary, White, Blue, Green, Yellow and Red. This special day encourages children to unite in prayer with their sisters and brothers in Africa, the Americas, Europe, Oceania and Asia. We will complete some activities in class tomorrow linked to Day on Many Colours.

As a school we will sing the chorus to this song. You might like to listen to it today. The Chorus is the part where the words change to black letters. “Oh, the joy of the Lord is my strength. The joy of the lord is my strength. In the darkness I’ll dance. In the shadows I’ll sing. The joy of the Lord is my strength.”

I hope that you all have a great day, Work hard and I will look forward to looking through your completed work this evening.

Keep smiling, take care have a wonderful day!

Mrs Gourley 🙂
