Welcome back Year 4! I hope you all had a lovely holiday 🙂 You most certainly deserved it.

This term we are going to be learning lots of exciting things and hopefully at some point we will all be back together. In the meantime, let’s keep working hard and trying our best, I know you can all do it!!

Today we have Maths, English, RE and PE… I can’t wait to hear all about your holiday on our class call at 9am.

Maths

Today, before moving on with fractions, we are going to recap our learning so far. Below is a worksheet where you can practise your knowledge of unit and non-unit fractions, tenths, equivalent fractions and fractions greater than 1. I will be going through the key learning in our call at 9am to help you ahead of doing your work… Have fun!

English

Our new topic in English is Explanation Writing, and over the next two weeks we will be learning all about how to make chocolate! Yum, yum! In today’s lesson you are going to learn all about the basic features of an explanation text.

Spellings

This week in our spellings we are looking at the suffix -al. I will recap these tomorrow on our class call ahead of our spelling test on Friday’s call. Listen to the lesson below which introduces you to each spelling. After you have completed the lesson I would like you to write down each spelling and write it’s definition alongside it. Use a dictionary or Google to find the meaning of each word.

Times Tables

This week we will be practising our 3 and 6 times tables. Practise as much as you can this week and I’ll test your knowledge on our call on Thursday! Good luck 🙂

RE

Today in RE we are looking at the second part of the Mass – the Liturgy of The Word. First we recap our previous learning, reminding ourselves of each part of the Opening Rite and then we move on so that we can understand the purpose behind each of the Readings we hear when we are at Church. Listen to the lesson first and then complete the Worksheet below. I have included a pdf of the presentation so that you can look back over what I covered in the lesson.
