Good morning Year 5.
Great work yesterday, well done.
Keep up this great effort Year 5, remember to always set your standards high and try your best.
Today we will focus on Maths, English, French and PE
Please send all work in as normal, however, moving forward, although we will look at each task, we will only be giving feedback on one piece of work each day. The feedback from today’s tasks will be linked to your Maths work.
We are now beginning our new topic, Multiplication and division.
We will start a new sequence of lessons, it is important you follow each lesson in order to build up your knowledge. If you know how to use the compact method for multiplication (like I taught you in autumn term) then please just use this to answer all questions. Do not think this work is easy because you know the method. It is very important that you remind yourself of these steps to multiplication as it will be a really good foundation for completing some of the more challenging work at the end of the topic.
I will be providing more maths challenges to keep you busy.
For today, we will be multiplying 2 digits by 1 digit.
Follow the video below. Like I have explained, it is important you understand the steps and why we use the method we do.
Now complete the worksheet, remember you can use the short compact method for all questions if you wish:
Today, I would you to complete the comprehension all about the volcanoes of the world. Helpful hint: Some of the volcano names are hard to pronounce. Sometimes type the name of the volcano into google and write ‘pronounce’ with it and you will be shown a video of how to pronounce the word.
