Well done Year 5. We have made it to our final day of Lockdown Learning.

Well done to each one of you who have worked to their best during this challenging time, I am very proud of you all, and the great work you have been handing in.

For our final day, we will be focusing on Maths, English, RE and our new DT project.

Today in Maths we will focus on numbers up to one million. Watch the lesson below and answer the questions provided.

In this lesson, we will discuss what editing is and what an editor does. Then we will practise editing together. You will then edit your own writing.

Collective Worship:

I would like you to reflect on our Eucharist RE topic and in doing so, I would like you to plan a collective worship for us to take part in on Monday when we all return to school.

Here are some ideas and scripture to think about whilst planning your act of worship.

Also remind yourself of the season we are in and the colours and readings that we listen to during Lent.

Exodus 13: 3

Luke 22: 14-20

Some key questions to think about:

Why do some things evoke memories?

Why are memories important?

How is it possible to keep important memories alive?

I look forward to seeing the wonderful ideas you all have.

Our next Design Technology topic will focus on ‘Bridges’.

I would like you to conduct your own research. Using books (if you have them), the internet etc, I would like you to create your own poster or leaflet with information about Bridges.

You could answer some of these key questions:

What is the purpose of a bridge?

How and why were they invented?

Are there different types of bridges?

It is up to you how you present your work, try to make it as vibrant and colourful as possible.

Here is a helpful beginners information PDF to help you with your research, please use some of these sentences and pictures.

Building Bridges information sheets

I hope you all have a wonderful day, and I look forward to seeing you all back in school on Monday.

Take care,

Mr. Craig.
